When I’m Dead

The great beyond is underwhelming.
A waste of effort
I mean, at first it had its charms.
I ran ‘em through and through
I’ve touched the stars, witnessed creation
Loved, lost and lassoed
I’m out of new, sound the alarm
Infinity eats you.

I’m bored, I’m buggin’ and I’m brazen.
My bones are buzzin’
My after-bucket list is wiped.
I miss the other side.
Then, from the black, prances a presence,
He’s got a cool hat.
He whispers “you should get a life.”
My spirit starts to rise.

All aboard, come and cease to be deceased,
You wanna be where the grass is greener?
An incantation, a corporeal feeling,
A breakthrough, a breakdance,
I can’t resist

Hi diddle dum diddle dee die dee dee
Hi diddle dum dee die.

Hanging euphoria by a thread,
Just out of reach as it ever was when I’m dead.
I wasn’t satisfied to begin,
I wanted more than the everything at the end.

Shaking my legs, infused with new sensation
The mortals retching at my restoration.
What am I doing wrong?
Perhaps it’s the putrescence.
You’ve been bamboozled, kid.
I thought I wanted this.

Waiting in eternity with eyes on the horizon,
Every moment passing silently by.
Careful what you wish for.

Hi diddle dum diddle dee die dee dee
Hi diddle dum dee die.

Hanging euphoria by a thread,
Just out of reach as it ever was when I’m dead.
I wasn’t satisfied to begin,
I wanted more than the everything at the end.

All this time I’ve looked away,
Was it ever really greener?
Never been here.
Not really here,

Keep chasing every fleeting hunger,
And betting on the next.

Waiting in eternity with eyes on the horizon,
Every moment passing silently by.
Careful what you wish for.

Hanging euphoria by a thread,
Just out of reach as it ever was when I’m dead.
I wasn’t satisfied to begin,
I wanted more than the everything at the end.
